Baggetta’s approach to painting reflects both the formal art education she received at Art Center College of Design and the years of experience that can only be gained from behind the easel;.”I am always struck by how the most eloquent of expressions are those that are most simply stated and awed by the technical authority required to make a work of art look effortless. This is what I strive for in each piece. I’m painting elusive moments in nature that strike me as magical or mystical. I hope to capture the spirit of nature that connects us all on a very basic level. You can feel this all around you when you experience the outdoors. You see it in the dancing of a shadow across a pathway, the breeze on your lips and the pungent aroma of a forest. I believe these moments have transformative and restorative power. It is my great privilege to be able to stand in front of my easel and paint them. To this end, I’m keenly aware that in order to grow and evolve as a painter you have to know how to play, and see through young and curious eyes. This balance of skill and play is intensely interesting to me and is a reminder of the complexity and intricacy of life.”
